It Takes a Village

Posted on October 16, 2011March 16, 2012 by Nicole Kraft

I may stand up alone in front of my students, but it surely takes a village to get me up there.

The first day of classes got off to a rough start, as every piece of technology in our 281 classroom stopped working at once–the door, the projector, the audio. But thanks to my friend and tech genius Robb Hagen, who can move between blocks and buildings like the Flash, we were soon up and running.Β  And I don’t know what I would do without my brilliant teaching assistants–Jason Peifer last quarter, and Chris Marshall this quarter–who keep me focused in so many ways.

I also can’t wait to call on my friends to join me in class, to share their expertise, and to inspire my students as much as they inspire me.

This quarter, Doral Chenoweth III, Michael Paull, Misti Crane of the Columbus Dispatch,Danielle Elias and Craig Friedman of 10TV, and Nate Ellis of This Week are already slated to join us, and I know they will bring my students perspectives that money cannot buy.

We have some of Columbus’ best bloggers stopping by, and will take a field trip or two for immersion-style interviewing and to see how media enterprises work from the front lines.

You can follow all our guest speakers via #osunewsclass on Twitter.

Join us in the village–the more the merrier!
