I have been writing like a wild person this summer–and it’s been awesome.
I didn’t really realize how many articles I had been writing until I posted the links on my Story Archives page, and saw I’m working on better than a piece a month for the Columbus’ best magazines. And the people I have been lucky enough to interview still impress me–Columbus Police Chief Kimberley Jacobs, 10TV news anchor Kristyn Hartman, Columbus Arts Festival director Scott Huntley (who, funny enough, is married to a parent consultant who help guide me through the early years of my son’s life–small world!).
I had the most inspiring experiences writing recently for Columbus CEO–a new opportunity–on the best Human Resource people in Columbus, and another upcoming piece on diversity. The HR article was a monster–nine different interviews and seven additional briefs–but it was all worth it when I got to meet the winners at a beautiful event at the Franklin Park Conservatory where Columbus CEO and the Dispatch Printing Company feted the honorees.
Sipping wine and snacking on appetizers with some of the city’s movers and shakers amid the flora and fauna of the Conservatory, I had just one thought: I can’t believe I get paid to do this.
